On November 27, after five weeks of intense activity -31 events in 23 different venues, 80 international artists and 25,000 attendees to live music shows- the Red Bull Academy in Madrid, located in the Matadero Music Hall, closed its doors.
Since October 23, 60 young people, producers, instrumentalists, vocalists or djs chosen from more than 4,000 applications, were able to enjoy talks and workshops with some of the most important artists on the world scene, such as Paul Riser, Young Guru, Frankie Knuckles, Alva Noto, Erykah Badu, Gareth Jones, Tom Zé, Andrew Weatherall, Nile Rodgers, Trevor Horn, Morton Subotnick, RZA, Tony Visconti, Peaches or Bootsy Collins among others.
The Red Bull Academy has traveled, in successive years, to various world capitals: 1998 and 1999 Berlin, 1000 Dublin, 2001 New York, 2002 London and Sao Paulo, 2003 Cape Town, 2004 Rome, 2005 Seattle, 2006 Melbourne, 2007 Toronto, 2008 Barcelona and 2010 London.
All the backline material and instruments, some of them really special - such as the Mellotron, or the numerous vintage keyboards - that have equipped the sound lab and the different workshops and study sessions of the Academy, have been supplied by Call & Play , just as he did at the 2008 Red Bull Academy in Barcelona.
Thanks to an agreement with the Area of the Arts of the Madrid City Council, the Academy space has become a permanent center of cultural activity, in which the music will not stop playing in the coming years.
