The XVI Seville Flamenco Biennial has taken place from 15 September to 4 October.
The first edition of this event was in 1980, 30 years ago, when it was created to draw attention to Andalusian culture and in particular flamenco.
Nowadays it’s one of the cultural symbols of Seville and is the event that draws the third biggest number of tourists to Seville after Holy Week and the Feria de Abril.
Apart from being a tourist attraction it’s obviously important artistically. It’s a showcase for everything that’s happening in the world of flamenco where it starts trends and gives coverage and prestige to a wide range of proposals.
Call & Play is especially proud of having the opportunity to provide the backline for all the performances that needed it for example for Dorantes, for Farrukito and for Paco de Lucía in the closing ceremony.
